Frequently Asked Questions About Bridal Lingerie
When should I buy my bridal lingerie?
The right time is once you've chosen your dress — because the dress determines everything: neckline, fabric weight, silhouette, and what will work underneath. That said, it's worth keeping the question in mind even while dress shopping. Knowing whether you'll need a strapless bra, a multiway, or a low-back solution before you commit to a gown means you won't face any surprises later. We'd suggest booking your bridal lingerie fitting at least two to three months before the wedding, so there's time to order anything specific and for alterations if needed.
What if I can't wear a conventional bra with my wedding dress?
This is more common than you'd think, and there is always a beautiful solution. Our strapless and multiway bra collection includes some exceptional options that work under even the most revealing or structured cuts. We stock strapless bras up to a G cup, and our team are very experienced at finding exactly the right answer for each bride. If you're uncertain, bring photographs of your dress to the boutique — or send them to us via WhatsApp — and we'll advise from there.
Do I need to wear white or ivory lingerie on my wedding day?
Not at all — it's entirely your choice. Ivory is traditional and lovely, but if your dress fabric is at all sheer or lightweight, a nude or blush tone is often a better practical choice, because ivory can show through ivory fabric if it's not thick enough. Some brides love something blue as their wedding-day secret. Others go for something bold and unexpected if it suits their personality or their dress. We'll always give you an honest opinion on what will actually work under your specific gown, and we celebrate all of it.
What is the difference between bridal lingerie and bridal nightwear?
Bridal lingerie refers to the underwear worn on the wedding day itself — bras, briefs, suspender belts, and matching sets that work with or beneath the dress. Bridal nightwear covers what comes after: silk chemises, nightdresses, and robes for the wedding night and honeymoon. The two often overlap in our bridal appointments, and many brides choose both together. Our silk nightwear pieces in particular — which we consider heirloom pieces — are also beautiful for getting-ready photographs on the morning of the wedding.
Why is a silk chemise so popular for weddings?
Two reasons: photographs and longevity. Silk photographs beautifully — that natural shimmer and drape reads on camera in a way that synthetic satin or cotton simply doesn't. A bride wearing a beautiful silk chemise while getting ready creates images that last. And beyond the wedding day, our silk pieces are made to genuinely last — worn again and again, treasured over years, and in some cases handed down. They're what we call heirloom pieces, and for many brides they become the starting point of a different relationship with the lingerie they own. Browse our bridal nightwear collection for silk chemises, nightdresses and robes.
Do you offer a bridal lingerie fitting service?
Yes — and it's one of our favourite appointments to do. You can book a bridal fitting at our boutique in Wimbledon Village, or simply pop in at a time that suits you. We'll ask to see photographs of your dress, take time to understand your shape and your priorities, and work through your wedding day underwear, your evening lingerie, and your honeymoon pieces together. If you'd like to discuss options before visiting, our WhatsApp fitting service is always available. We also carry a beautiful edit of honeymoon swimwear if you'd like to look at that in the same visit.
