Frequently Asked Questions About Bralettes & Wireless Bras
What is the difference between a bralette and a wireless bra?
A bralette is typically a lighter, softer style — often in lace or stretch fabric — with little or no padding and no underwire. A wireless bra has more structure and support than a bralette but still no underwire — it uses soft cups, wide underbands, and clever construction to provide shape and lift without a wire. Both are significantly more comfortable than a traditional underwired bra for many women, especially for extended wear. Our collection includes both — from Mey and Anita's structured wireless styles to the beautiful lace bralettes from Aubade, Lise Charmel and Huit.
Is the trend for wire-free bras here to stay?
Absolutely. The shift towards softer, non-wired styles that began during lockdown has only grown stronger. What started as a comfort preference has become a genuine lifestyle choice — and increasingly, something our customers plan for deliberately. We now recommend to every customer building a new lingerie wardrobe that they include at least one beautiful wire-free option alongside their underwired styles. For those days when you don't need maximum lift and support, a well-chosen wireless bra or bralette should feel as considered and as beautiful as everything else you own.
Can a wireless bra provide proper support?
Yes — particularly if you choose the right brand. Anita and Mey both engineer their wireless bras specifically for support, using wide underband construction, multi-section cups, and high-quality fabrics that hold their shape. For D cup and above, we would particularly recommend looking at the Anita wireless range, which is designed with fuller busts in mind. If you are unsure which wireless style will give you the support you need, please get in touch and we will advise you personally.
Are bralettes suitable for larger cup sizes?
It depends on the style. Decorative lace bralettes from Aubade, Lise Charmel and Huit are generally best suited to A–D cup. For D cup and above, the structured wireless bras from Anita are a much better option — they offer genuine support alongside the wire-free comfort. We also stock the Anita Essential Lace bralette which combines beautiful lace design with proper support for fuller cups. Get in touch and we will guide you to the right style for your size.
Are wireless bras good for post-surgery wear?
Yes — wire-free styles are strongly recommended following breast surgery, as underwires can irritate the surgical site during recovery. Anita in particular produces specialist post-surgery bras including wire-free styles and front-fastening options. Visit our dedicated post-surgery bra collection for the full range of styles, or get in touch for personal guidance on which option is right for your stage of recovery.
Which bralette brands do you stock?
